PBA Systems Catalog Update
DX B, CVC, IX, PDDRMaxTune, MaxMotion and SM Series catalogs have just been updated. PBA Systems has standardized the testing method and specification presentation in a uniform format, which will improve consistency and facilitate motor sizing and selection. Download the new versions of the catalogs from the PBA Systems Website.

Linear Voice Coil Assembly (LVCA)
A new voice coil design with constant force values unchanging across stroke range is currently being developed by the PBA Systems R&D Team. The Linear Voice Coil Assembly or LVCA will be especially suitable for applications where maintaining a constant force along the stroke is critical, such as solar panel and flat panel glass cutting.

PBA Systems introduces the EX B Series Ironless Linear Motor featuring a narrow profile, zero cogging and low velocity rippling for slow speed and contouring motion systems. The EX B’s low mass coil assembly is ideal for high speed high acceleration. For improved heat dissipation and increased force, air cooling option is also available.

IX Iron Core Linear Motor
PBA Systems introduces the IX Series Iron Core Linear Motor for high force motion systems. The IX series is designed with advanced technologies to minimize cogging, while improving dynamic speed and acceleration capabilities. The IX series is able to deliver thrust continuous forces of up to ~2500N and peak forces of up to ~10000 N.

SM Shaft Motor
The new PBA Systems SM Series Shaft Motor was designed for dynamic low force applications and is especially useful for Z-axis applications. In typical linear motor applications, the use of optical encoder and scale will produce high repeatability and high accuracy motions. However, the cost of these encoders is comparable to the cost of the small motor used. A cheaper alternative would be the SM Shaft Motor.

The SM Shaft Motor has a high repeatability of up to +/- 15 microns for position feedback, with an accuracy of up to 1mm, which is acceptable in most Z-axis applications.

Besides this, the SM motor is also generally more efficient than similarly sized U-Channel Linear Ironless motor since the entire coil is perpendicular to the direction of the magnetic flux. Also, the SM Shaft Motor is significantly smaller than the competitor’s shaft motor for the same force range. This makes The SM Shaft Motor Series attractive for both performance against other shaft motor brands as well as performance against other types of motors. It’s the ideal, cost-effective solution for high dynamic, low force applications.

PDDR Direct Drive Rotary Motor
PBA Systems introduces the PDDR Direct Drive Rotary Motor designed for high speed precise rotary motion systems.

This compact single module direct-driven rotary motor is capable of generating high torque precision rotary motion for wide range of applications. The PDDR design enables direct mounting of rotary table/load without additional mechanical power transmission mechanisms that eventually lead to accuracy loss due to gearing backlash, slippage or coupling compliance errors. The PDDR’s compact size allows for significant amount of space saving and simplifies the whole machine design process.

The internal multipole magnets design with built-in encoder system enables high resolution, high repeatability & high accuracy rotary motion. Moreover, the PDDR internal coils with special iron core construction design enables it to achieve a very high torque with almost negligible cogging forces, which is favorable to most constant speed precision applications.

Wire Bonding XYZ Solutions
Wire bonding applications require short stroke, high acceleration, high accuracy. As a result, its motion system design requires high rigidity and low moving mass. In our Wire Bonding XYZ solution, we use carbon fiber to reduce moving mass and increase rigidity.

MaxMotion Precision Motion Control Card
The MaxMotion Precision Motion Control Card was designed for high-performance PC-based (PCI-bus ) multi-axis motion control applications, which require up to 4 axes of analog servo control and up to 4 axes of pulse stepper control. Optional encoder inputs for closed-loop stepper or pulse-based servo control and general-purpose analog inputs are also available for this series. MaxMotion offers machine builders superior performance such as higher bandwidth, low dynamic tracking error, smooth jerk free motion, shorter settling time and flexibility in an extremely compact and cost-effective package.

To speed up system development, PBA Systems offer a comprehensive and powerful high-level Motion Control Application Programming Interface (MCAPI), as well as our Motion Integrator™ suite of graphical setup, tuning and diagnostic utilities. Practical New Technologies 2012: Drive and Control – A Success
Last July 27, 2012, PBA Systems held its annual seminar entitled “Practical New Technologies: Drive and Control 2012″.

With over a 100 participants, the event showcased the latest PBA Systems products through exhibits, keynote speakers and hands-on product demonstrations. Held at the Republic Polytechnic, the event featured products such as the EX B Series Linear Motor, IX Series Iron Core Motor, SM Series Shaft Motor, PDDR Direct Drive Rotary Motor, MaxTune Digital Servo Drive, MaxMotion Control Card, among others.

Prior to the seminar event, PBA Systems, alongside PBA (S) and PBA Spindles, also conducted a 4-day product training program for its local and overseas distributors to bolster their knowledge of the various PBA’s products and services.

PBA Systems Participates in Taipei Int’l Industrial Automation Exhibition 2012
PBA Systems, has again participated in the Taipei Int’l Industrial Automation Exhibition to be held at the Taipei World Trade Center NanGang Exhibition Hall on August 29- September 1, 2012.
